Fresno State Connect was featured in GV Wire for helping low-income families during COVID-19 crisis

Fresno State Connect was featured in a GV Wire article in April about how to get internet access at home. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are having to work from home, which has risen the demand for internet access. The article mentions how the Call Center is receiving hundreds of calls daily instead of around 50 with a staff of about 12 workers.

The Call Center’s staff diversity is really important during this process, as the article mentions. There are English, Spanish, Hmong, and Punjabi speakers who are constantly receiving calls and helping residents fill out online applications to receive a free chromebook and low-cost internet service.

Throughout the article, Call Center’s Project Assistant Jessica Conrriquez informed that residents are receiving high-quality services. Conrriquez also mentioned to GV Wire that more than 300 Chromebooks should be available soon.
