Fresno State Small Business Development Center Opens Satellite Office in McFarland

On January 9th, 2020, the Fresno State Small Business Development Center began giving students the opportunity to get connected with rural, small businesses in Kern County by opening up the McFarland Satellite Office. The office is located in the Veterans Community Center in McFarland, Ca., at 103 W. Sherwood Ave. This project will also expand and improve Fresno State’s efforts to develop the rural areas of the San Joaquin Valley.

The Small Business Development Center coordinator, Jorg Letkemann, will be in the office every second and fourth Thursday of the month to improve the access to technical assistance for the surrounding businesses.

The Development Center is part of the Fresno State Small Business University program which provides business resources and the necessary tools that entrepreneurs need to start and/or grow their small businesses. As of June 2019, the Small Business University helped 21 entrepreneurs start their business.

OCED is looking forward to a fruitful partnership with the McFarland Greater Chamber of Commerce, the City of McFarland, the McFarland Unified School District, and all small businesses in Kern County.
