Fresno State Connect's partnership with Madera Unified School District is helping families go online
Fresno State Connect's call center has remained open and has been taking calls from all school districts and communities in the eight-county area to get families online.
The partnership with Madera Unified School District has been a great example of how our call center can be a crucial resource for families during the COVID-19 crisis. As David Hernandez, Director of Community and Parent Resource Centers at Madera Unified School District, explains in the video, families with school-age children need internet access now more than ever. With over three thousand Madera families that still need to be connected, the call center has become a necessary resource for Madera Unified.
Fresno State students working for the Fresno State call center, like Ashley Vargas, have played a significant role in helping families get connected. Vargas and the rest of the call center staff have been working hard to get as many families connected as they can.
Employees of Madera Unified, like Millie Leal, encourage Madera families to get in contact with Fresno State Connect to help them get online by emphasizing how important it is for children to have Internet access to succeed in their education, which has currently been moved online.
