OCED Supporting Growth of Entrepreneurs and Existing Small Business in Rural Kings County Community

The Fresno State Small Business University hosts a small business resource workshops every year around the rural communities in the Central Valley. This workshop was held in Avenal, CA on November 6, 2018 at the Avenal Theatre. With the generous support from the City of Avenal, the workshop was a success. There was around 15 people in attendance eager to learn more about the resources we provide.

The Small Business University attended these workshops with a team composed of different organizations. Our team members include the Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Center, Opportunity Fund, Access+Capital and BlueTech Valley.

Many of those in attendance already have a business. They inquired on how to go about starting a business and how to use Quickbooks to keep track of their books. All of their questions were enthusiastically answered and were given one on one consultation after the workshop was over. One of the most important aspects from these workshops is that people don’t know about all the resources available to them. The most common feedback received during that workshop was their disbelief in the amount of available free resources.

The Small Business University is looking forward to traveling to new cities in the rural Central Valley in 2019 to continue helping communities and small businesses along the way.
