California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Sponsors the 2019 California Economic Summit in Fresno

The California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley was a proud sponsor of the 2019 California Economic Summit. This year’s event was hosted in Fresno, California at the Downtown Doubletree.  Fresno State also served as a sponsor. Board Chairman Vito Chiesa represented the CPSJV during the event's recognition of sponsors. The event allowed a platform for leaders in higher education to meet and discuss issues and craft strategies to help the state’s universities and support cradle-to-career education.

The Summit was an opportunity for a vast network of business, equity, environmental, and civic organizations to discuss California's challenges in housing, cradle-to-career education, workforce development, water quality and sustainability, forest resiliency, broadband access and more.

At this event, California Governor Gavin Newsom highlighted $23 million in commitments made by philanthropic partners to invest in the region and strengthen nonprofit capacity throughout the Central Valley and the Inland Empire. He also unveiled the launch of the Integrated K-16 Collaborative, a project based in Fresno that will increase educational attainment and economic mobility by building an efficient path for students in the region. Governor Newsom also announced plans for a “Broadband for All” convening to address the digital divide that exists in many communities across California and previewed the Central Valley and Inland Empire field offices.
