On September 19th, the San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative hosted the 2019 affordable housing summit at the Visalia Wyndham Hotel with their partners at the Fresno State Office of Community and Economic Development and the California Coalition for Rural Housing. This year's theme, A Home for All, invited over 220 housing specialists, community development professionals, elected officials, service providers, and community advocates to discuss issues related to affordable housing that include:
- Solutions for addressing homelessness
- Gap funding resources pertaining to energy efficiency programs
- Information on how AHSC and TCC models can lead to long-lasting neighborhood-scale community development
- Strategies for addressing housing needs, at-risk housing, resident engagement, and statewide policy.
- Understanding the Water Energy Nexus.
- Tools and guidelines for advocating for equitable, comprehensive, and community-driven funding strategies.
- State of California recently approved funding to MPOs for affordable housing planning
The San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative focuses on regional solutions to promote affordable housing via dialogue among state, local, and federal stakeholders.
