Members Present: A. Lawson (Chair), S. Adisasmito-Smith,

J. Charalambides, S. Lewis.
Members Absent: D. Henriques (excused), K. Miller (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair Lawson at 11:15 a.m. in
University Center, room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 2/29/2008.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    General Education (GE) program review has been scheduled for
    April 24 and 25 with two outside reviewers.
  4. Review draft revision to EO595.
    a. The question was raised if the CSUF GE program should still
    include the “foundation” designation. This may be addressed
    during the program review site visit.

    b. Not all outcomes are measurable outcomes as defined by
    WASC, seek clarification that outcomes can be generated by
    campuses.
    c. 3.3.1 How do we define what is “reasonably expected”?
    d. 5.4.3 Why not allow a CSU course?
    e. Area A3 – consider dropping Area A3 and instead integrate it
    across the curriculum and the skills should be reflected in
    measurable learning outcomes.
    f. Add Linguistics to Area D list.
  5. Syllabi Review Area IC.
    Postponed to next meeting.
  6. Program Review Schedule.
    D. Nef’s office has the schedule almost established. May contact
    committee members for additional requests.
  7. Learning Outcomes Sessions.
    Area A will be scheduled for April 11th meeting.
  8. Antro105W and 116W as sole W class in General Education.
    Postponed.

MSC to adjourn 12:50 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting of the General Education Committee will be
Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the University Center # 203.
