Message from the Senate Chair

Welcome to the Academic Senate of Fresno State

The Academic Senate is entrusted with the responsibility to define and oversee the University’s educational mission, including all matters concerning curriculum and the faculty who bring it to life in the classroom. The main way we accomplish these tasks is through the formulation and revision of academic policies via collaboration and parliamentary procedure, resulting in the collective body of work we call the Academic Policy Manual (APM).
 
On these Academic Senate web pages you will find resources concerning the processes of revision and implantation of the APM, including a list of active senate members, the membership of our standing committees, and a full archive of senate business including the minutes and agendas of previous meetings up to and including our current discussions and proposals.
 
As Chair of the Senate I wish to promote a culture of empowerment and equity to all faculty across all dimensions. All voices need to be heard so that we may best serve our students, giving them the tools and education they need to graduate with fruitful career paths, and promote the next generation of leaders both here in our San Joaquin Valley, and on the world stage.
