Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, J. Farrar, J. Olson–Buchanan, P. Popma, J. Redd–Williams.

Members Absent: K. Forbes, D. Harris (excused), J. Valdes (student).

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in the University Center, Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 12/6/2007.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    a. The Policy on Nepotism (APM 303) passed the Senate and is being
    forwarded to President Welty.
    b. Four candidates for the Associate Provost position are visiting the
    campus for interviews starting the week of January 28 th , 2008.
    c. Task force to review RFP’s for the new Student Ratings for
    Instruction Instrument will forward their recommendations to
    Provost Echeverria.
    d. Our campus did not receive the Family Friendly Policies Sloan
    grant it applied for last semester. Thank you to those who filled out
    the survey.
    e. (AMP 361) – Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence was received from
    Academic Personnel to Chair Tsukimura on 1/24/2008.
  4. Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence (APM 361).
    Initial discussion of policy.
  5. Policy & Procedures for Fingerprinting & Conducting Background
    Checks.
    Postponed.

MSC to adjourn (10:50 a.m.)

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 9:00 a.m., in the University Center # 203. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e–mail alias “perscom”.
