Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, K. Forbes, D. Harris, P. Popma, J. Redd–Williams.

Members Absent: J. Olson–Buchanan (excused), J. Farrar, J. Valdes (student).

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:00 a.m. in the University Center, Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 1/24/2008.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to show:
    Table item #5 (APM 114) Policy on Faculty
    Consultation and Voting and renumber subsequent
    items accordingly.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    a. The Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322)
    was reviewed in the Executive Committee on 1/28/2008. The
    Executive Committee requested a form be specified in the policy.
    The policy was forwarded to the Academic Policies and Procedures
    Committee (AP&P). AP&P has three weeks to review.
    b. Discussion ensued regarding the proposed 2009–2010 calendar
    changes pending in AP&P.
  4. Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence (APM 361).
    Discussed.
  5. Policy & Procedures for Fingerprinting & Conducting Background
    Checks.
    Postponed.

MSC to adjourn (10:50 a.m.)

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 9:00 a.m., in the University Center # 203. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e–mail alias “perscom”.
