Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), J. Farrar, D. Harris,
J. Olson–Buchanan, P. Popma, J. Redd–Williams.
Members Absent: M. Darling (excused), K. Forbes (excused),
J. Valdes (student).
The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:20 a.m. in the
University Center, Room #203.
- Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 3/13/2008.
- Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to show:
Item # 4 Academic Personnel Calendar. - Communications and Announcements.
a. Equity increases for Assistant Professors have been keyed into payroll
and should show up in the paychecks at the end of April.
b. Planned equity increases for Associate Professors are in the Collective
Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for next year.
c. Representatives from Academic Personnel have been invited to the
Chairs Council to discuss peer evaluations of teaching effectiveness
under the proposed policy.
d. Task force discussing implementation of e–recruit for faculty
searches. - Academic Personnel Calendar.
Discussion of calendar dates for probationary plans and Retention, Tenure
& Promotion (RTP) process. - Policy & Procedures for Fingerprinting & Conducting Background Checks.
The committee members had different versions of the document. Final draft
# 7 dated July 2006 was distributed.
MSC to adjourn (10:50 a.m.)
The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday, April 3,
2008 at 9:00 a.m., in the University Center # 203. The entire committee
membership may be reached at the e–mail alias “perscom”.
