Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, J. Farrar, K. Forbes,
D. Harris, J. Olson-Buchanan, P. Popma,
J. Redd-Williams.

Members Absent: J. Valdes (student).

The meeting was called to order by Chair B. Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in the
University Center # 203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of April 17, 2008 as amended
    to show:
    #4. AAUP has a document regarding fingerprinting and
    background checks at other universities.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    The last meeting will be May 1, 2008.
    (APM 114) Policy on Faculty Consultation and Voting passed by the
    Senate, after waiving second reading.
    (APM 361) Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence received first reading in
    the Senate.
    Conference on Evaluating Faculty Performance in the Classroom will be
    attended by several members of the faculty at the end of June.
    Reminder about Individual Development and Educational Assessment
    (IDEA) meetings April 28, 2008:
    8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. – Executive Committee, Chairs, Deans/Assoc
    Deans, Provost Team
    1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Technical Staff
    4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Special Session of Academic Senate
    Tuesday, April 29:
    10:00 to 11:30 AM Alice Peters Auditorium (UBC) – Faculty Open
    Session
  4. Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting
    Background Checks.
    Discussion.
  5. Review of “Creating a Family Friendly Department: Chairs
    & Deans Toolkit”.
