The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in the University Center, Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 9/20/2007 as follows:
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to show:
    #4 – Sloan Grant
    #5 – Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness
    (APM 322).
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. CSU/CFA need to bargain limits on arbitrator under SB 1212 for
      faculty grievance cases.
    2. Absence management will be implemented in the Spring as an on
      line system and will apply to faculty and staff.
  4. Sloan Foundation Awards.
    There was a wide ranging discussion of campus policies and campus
    culture related to the Sloan Foundation Proposal.
  5. Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322).
    There was discussion of part 11 B.

MSC to adjourn (11:20 a.m.)

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday,
October 4, 2007 in UC #203. An agenda will be distributed prior to the
meeting. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e–mail alias
“perscom”.
