Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), J. Farrar, J. Olson–Buchanan, P. Popma, J. Redd–Williams.

Members Absent: K. Forbes (excused), D. Harris (excused).

Visitors: None.

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:20 a.m. in the University Center, Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 10/4/2007.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.

    Welcome to new member M. Darling (Arts & Humanities).

    A committee needs to be formed to review RFP responses from vendors for student ratings. J. Olson–Buchanan and J. Farrar were elected to represent the Personnel Committee.

    J. Redd–Williams is writing a Chair’s Handbook, along with three faculty members.

    A new position was approved in APS, whose duties will include immigration processes.

    Chair Tsukimura will be gone the next two Thursdays, October 18 th and 25 th . P. Popma volunteered to be the Interim Chair.

    Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322) to be sent via email to the Chairs Council.

    Thirty four percent return on Sloan Survey responses.

  4. Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322).
    Continued discussion of APM 322 relating to the administration of peer review reports.

MSC to adjourn (11:20 a.m.)

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday, October 18, 2007 in UC #203. An agenda will be distributed prior to the meeting. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e-mail alias “perscom”.
