Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, J. Farrar, K. Forbes,
D. Harris, J. Olson­Buchanan, P. Popma.

Members Absent: J. Redd­Williams (excused), J. Valdes (student).

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in the
University Center, Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 11/1/2007.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. The memo from the Personnel Committee regarding the
      Department of Social Work Governance and Consultative
      Procedures is on the agenda for the Executive Committee Meeting
      at 3:00 p.m., November 19, 2007.
    2. Because our committee is working on the Policy on the Assessment
      of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322) we are concerned about
      asking staff to spend extra time attempting to automate filling out
      the department’s part of the student rating forms. We recommend
      cross checking within the office rather than developing new
      automated techniques.
  4. Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322).
    Paragraphs from Section VI and VII were discussed.

MSC to adjourn (10:35 a.m.)

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday,
November 15, 2007 in UC #203. An agenda will be distributed prior to the
meeting. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e­mail alias
“perscom”.
