Members Present: J. Cummins, T. Einhorn (acting Chair), A. Fiala,
J. Jung, J. Larralde, C. Ortiz.

Members Absent: M. Sharps, (Chair)(excused), T. McClanahan,
C. Lucey (excused).

Visitors: N. Myers-Sims.

The meeting was called to order by acting Chair T. Einhorn, at 1:30 p.m. in
room 312 Science II Building.

  1. Minutes: MSC to approve the Minutes of 12/05/2007.
  2. Agenda: MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. Laval awards will be distributed this month. Members need to
      review and rank proposals for March 5 meeting.
    2. Interim policies (APM 502) Interim Policy on Cost Share/Match
      and (APM 504) Interim Policy on Effort Reporting for Research
      and Sponsored Programs have been approved and forwarded to
      the Academic Senate.
  4. Old Business.
    None.
  5. New Business.
    1. The research subcommittee has been asked to review three
      policies:
      (APM 501) Policy on the Administration of Sponsored Programs.
      (APM 503) Policy on Indirect Cost Recoveries and Allocations.
      (APM 505) Replacement Interim Policy- Conflict of Interest in
      Grants and Contracts for Principal Investigators.
      Teams of two committee members will review policies and
      reports on March 5, 2008 as follows:
      APM 501 (T. Einhorn ,C. Ortiz),
      APM 503 (J. Larralde, J. Cummins) and
      APM 505 (A. Fiala, J. Jung).

MSC to adjourn (1:55 p.m.)

The next scheduled meeting of the Research Subcommittee will be on
Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., in Science II, Room 312.
