The formal meeting was called to order by Chair Schreiber at 2:20 p.m. in the University Center, Room #203.

  1. Minutes. Approval of the Minutes of 9/11/08.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to include an
    Executive Session as new item #4, Subcommittee
    Appointments as new item #5, and add (APM 322) Policy
    on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness as a new
    item #6. Remaining items renumbered accordingly.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. Facilities & Campus Environment Liaison Committee (FACEL) Report of
      Library Progress.
    2. Received Executive Order 1037 – “Grading Symbols, Minimum Standards
      Governing the Assignment of Grades, Policies on the Repetition of
      Courses, Policies on Academic Renewal, and Grade Appeals” from
      the Chancellor’s Office via D. Nef.
  4. Executive Session 3:40 p.m. - 3:43 p.m.
  5. Subcommittee Appointments.
    MSC to appoint Todd Westervelt to the Undergraduate Curriculum
    Subcommittee.
    MSC to appoint Balagi Sethuramasamyraja to the Writing Competency
    Subcommittee.
  6. (APM 322) Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness.
    MSC to return APM 322 to the Personnel Committee.
  7. (APM 355) Interim Policy on Allocation of Instructional Administrative Positions.
    MSC to recommend removal of (APM 355) Interim Policy on Allocation
    of Instructional Administrative Positions from the Academic
    Policy Manual. Send recommendation to the Executive Committee.
  8. (APM 231) Interim Policy on Adding and Dropping Classes.
    Discussed.
  9. (APM 233) Policy on Repeating Classes.
    Discussed.
  10. (APM 225) Teacher Education Policy.
    Postponed.
  11. (APM 235) Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism.
    Postponed.
  12. (APM 236) Honor Code of Academic Integrity.
