Members Present: Mike Botwin, Michael Caldwell, Jacinta Amaral,
Jeronima Echeverria, Manuel Figueroa, Harald
Schweizer, Graham Wahlberg (student).

Members Absent: Gena Gechter (excused), Lynn Williams
(excused), President Welty (excused).

Visitors: T. Anderson, S. Hayes, J. Kus, A. Lawson,
B. Tsukimura.

The meeting was called to order at 3:02 p.m. by Chair Botwin in the
University Center, Room #203.

1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 10/13/08.
2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
3. Communications and Announcements. (Anyone wishing
   a copy of the items distributed or discussed, please contact
   the Academic Senate Office).
   Action Item
   1. A memorandum (10/1/08) from Christine Edmondson,
      Chair, Student Affairs Committee to Michael Botwin, Chair,
      Academic Senate, re: Interim Policy on Adding Dropping
      Classes (APM 231) was received.
      Executive Committee Meeting, 10/27/08.
   2. A memorandum (10/8/08) from Fred Schreiber, Chair,
      Academic Policy & Planning Committee, to Michael Botwin,
      Chair, Academic Senate, re: Interim Policy on Allocation of
      Instructional Administrative Positions (APM 355), was
      received.
      Executive Committee Meeting, 10/27/08.
      Information Item
   3. Chair Botwin welcomed new Associated Students, Inc. (ASI)
      President, Graham Wahlberg.
4. Policy on Coaches (APM 309) – Personnel Committee – Second
   Reading.
   MSC to change 309-8, Section VI to reflect uniform
   practices regarding evaluation on teaching faculty
   across campus, particularly with consideration of
   APM 322.
   MSC to change all instances of “Athletic Department:
   “Department of Athletics,” or any similar wording
   to “Athletics Department” and forward to the
   Academic Senate.
5. Proposed Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training – University
   Budget Committee.
   MSC to approve the Proposed Bachelor of Science
   in Athletic Training and forward to the Academic
   Senate for approval.
6. Area A3 Coordination Subcommittee – General Education
   Committee.
   MSC to approve the Area A3 Coordination Subcommittee
   and forward to the Academic Senate for approval.
7. Executive Session.
   
   MSC to move into Executive Session (4:12 p.m. – 4:55 p.m.)
   8. Returned to Open Session. (4:55 p.m.)
   MSC to forward the following recommendation for the
   committee vacancy:
   Academic Council for International Programs (ACIP)
   Janet Slagter (Women’s Studies)
   MSC to adjourn at 4:56 p.m.

The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be announced and an
Agenda will be distributed prior to the meeting.
