Members Present: A. Lawson (Chair), S. Lewis, D. Henriques,
D. Christensen, A. Yamane, Brent Sodini (student).

Members Absent: C. Torgerson (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair Lawson at 12:05 p.m. in the
University Center, room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 2/13/09.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. General Education (GE) Learning Outcomes group has completed
      several workshops by GE area and collected good faculty input on
      the first draft of learning outcomes.
    2. The request for Area C2 syllabi for review went out last week and
      requested that the departments ensure syllabi conform to policy
      before submitting them.
  4. Syllabi Review Process (including courses with multiple sections).
    1. The committee will approve a model syllabi and then request that
      all sections follow that model.
    2. It was suggested we consider developing a document that outlines
      department responsibilities in terms of delivering GE courses.
  5. Syllabi Review.
    1. ENGL 101 – MSC to approve.
    2. ENGL 112 - MSC to approve.
    3. ENGL 114 – MSC to approve.
    4. HUM 104 –
      • No tentative course schedule is included.
      • Iterative component is mentioned, but the process is
        unspecified. This could be clarified by inclusion of a course
        schedule.
      • No location or time.
      • Ask L. Goto for a copy of first syllabi reviewed to insure this
        syllabus is the same as the one previously reviewed.
    5. HUM 108 – MSC to approve.
    6. SPAN 129 – MSC to approve.
    7. Music 187 – MSC to approve.
  6. Writing Requirement.
    Postponed.

Friday, March 27th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the University Center #203.
