Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, , D. Harris,
J. Olson-Buchanan, P. Popma, J. Redd-Williams, H. Shen,
B. Sodini (student).

Members Absent: J. Farrar (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair B. Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in the University
Center # 203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 3/19/2009.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. Congratulations to J. Olson Buchanan and P. Popma for their re-election
      to the Personnel Committee.
    2. Congratulations to Chair B. Tsukimura as his men’s club volleyball team
      is currently ranked #1 in the nation.
    3. Information for post-promotion increases, year two, has been distributed.
      Full professors hired after 8/1/1988 who are at SSI maximum are
      eligible. Information for this round of Post Promotion Increases (PPI) is on
      the APS website.
    4. Deans have been contacted asking them to make requests for new
      faculty hires for 2010. These searches will be conducted using e-recruit.
    5. There has been a good level of compliance with the online Absence
      Management System.
  4. Henry Madden Library Articles of Governance.
    MSC to approve the Henry Madden Articles of Governance as received
    and forward to the Executive Committee for review.
  5. Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background
    Checks.
    Discussed the policy.

MSC to adjourn at 10:50 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be on Thursday, April 2,
2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the University Center #203.
