Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling J. Farrar,
J. Olson-Buchanan, P. Popma, J. Redd-Williams,
H. Shen.

Members Absent: D. Harris (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair B. Tsukimura at 9:10 a.m. in the
University Center # 203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 10/30/08.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. All information regarding the Post Promotion Increases has been
      distributed to departments.
    2. Hiring freeze – Of 31 faculty searches, only 15 were approved to
      continue. Lecturers will continue to be hired to teach scheduled
      classes.
    3. J. Redd-Williams attended the system-wide Associate Vice Presidents
      (AVP) meeting. Much of the discussion centered on the budget.
    4. (APM 330) Policy on Market Based Salary Increases passed in the Senate
      and has been submitted to the President for signature.
    5. (APM 309) Policy on Coaches was adopted by the Senate, where the second
      reading was waived. The Policy moves onto President for signature.
  4. (APM 322) – Policy on Teaching Effectiveness.
    Discussed revisions of the policy and the attachments.
  5. Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background
    Checks.
    Postponed.

MSC to adjourn at 10:55 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday,
November 13, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the University Center # 203.
