Members Present: C. Edmondson (Chair), A. Fiala, D. Lewis, K. Fugelsang,
K. Singley (student).
Members Absent: C. Coons (excused), F. Padilla.
Visitors: Tina Bedall.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Edmondson at 10:00 a.m. in the
University Center Room #203.
1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 2/4/2009.
2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
3. Communication and Announcements.
None.
4. (APM 231) Interim Policy on Adding and Dropping Classes -
Continued discussion with Tina Bedall.
T. Bedall and the committee discussed a few minor changes.
MSC to approve changes to the Interim Policy on Adding and Dropping
Classes (APM 231) and forward to the Executive Committee for
review.
(Suggestion about acting to implement certain changes prior to 3/13 deadline
for the Fall Schedule of Classes.)
5. (APM 233)- Policy on Repeating Classes Preliminary discussion.
a. How will we track academic dishonesty to prevent replacing failing
grades for cheating?
b. Discussion of preventing students from early registration for classes
they are repeating.
• Ex. San Jose State does not allow repeating students to preregister.
• Suggestion: repeating students can’t register until after “open
registration” period is concluded.
MSC to adjourn at 11:30 a.m.
The next scheduled meeting of the Student Affairs will be March 18, 2009 at 10:00
a.m. in the University Center #203.
