Members Present: C. Edmondson (Chair), A. Fiala, , D. Lewis, F. Padilla,
K. Singley (student).

Members Absent: K. Fugelsang (excused), C. Coons (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair C. Edmondson at 10:00 a.m. in the
University Center Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 4/15/2009 as amended:
    Item 4 - added: "e. MSC to approve the memo on (APM 322) Policy on
    Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness and forward to the Executive Committee
    for review.
    Item 5a - was reworded: "a. Chair C. Edmondson summarized a 3/20/09
    meeting with Tina Beddall, Beverly Kirkland, and Vivian Franco in which they
    discussed current policies and procedures for the repetition of courses and
    their recommendations for revising the policy. She shared a memo that she
    wrote to them summarizing the meeting. Additional meetings will occur as the
    policy is revised and as the committee answers important questions about the
    policy."
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communication and Announcements.
    1. Congratulations to the Cultural Heritage Festival.
    2. Provost Search Committee has sent its recommendation to President
      Welty.
    3. Need to recruit new members for this committee for next year.
    4. End of the year congratulations to the committee and to Chair
      C. Edmonson and her hard work on behalf of Student Affairs.
  4. (APM 231) - Policy on Adding and Dropping Classes.
    Discussed at Executive Committee. Further discussion at the Executive
    Committee meeting on May 11, 2009.
  5. (APM 322) - Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness.
    Chair C. Edmondson reported on discussion of this new policy with the
    Executive Committee and other committee chairs.
  6. (APM 233) - Policy on Repeating Classes.
    Chair C. Edmondson presented a scenario for consideration regarding
    students who repeat a course more than once.
  7. (APM 236) Honor Code of Academic Integrity and
    (APM 235) Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism.
    Postponed.

MSC to adjourn at 11:15 a.m.

The next meeting of the Student Affairs committee will be on Wednesday, September
2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomas Administration #117.
