Members Present: C. Edmondson (Chair), A. Fiala, K. Fugelsang, D. Lewis.

Members Absent: D. Helsel, F. Padilla.

The meeting was called to order by Chair Edmondson at 10:00 a.m. in the
University Center Room #203.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 11/5/2008.
  2. Agenda: MSC to approve the Agenda.
  3. Communication and Announcements.
    1. A. Fiala reported on two Ethics Center presentations.
    2. Chair Edmonson announced that the Student Affairs committee will
      soon be considering the results of Executive Order 1037 and it’s
      implications for various policies:
      1. APM 231—Interim Policy on Adding and Dropping Classes
      2. APM 233—Policy on Repeating Classes
  4. Pending Business.
    1. Discussion of Honor Code of Academic Integrity (APM 236) and the
      Policy on Cheating and Plagiarism (APM 235).
      1. Issues relate to class size and support.
      2. Members expressed the need to hold students accountable.
      3. Members expressed concern about faculty responding to cheating
        and plagiarism in a way that was too lenient and forgiving.

MSC to adjourn at 10:50 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Student Affairs will be December 3, 2008 at
10:00 AM in the University Center #208.
