Members Present: R. Perry (Chair), D. Kemp, S. Kotkin-Jaszi,
N. Bengiamin, D. Dickerson, R. Kuhn.

Members Absent: M. Nogin (excused).

Visitors: D. Nef.

The meeting was called to order by Chair R. Perry at 9:05 a.m. in the Thomas
Administration #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of September 18, 2008.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended:
    Agenda was amended to add discussion of action plans
    reviewed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    Welcome to Rose Marie Kuhn from Modern & Classical Languages and
    Literatures.
    Political Science is actually two programs. N. Bengiamin will lead review
    of the public administration program.
    Physical therapy program was distributed and D. Kemp will lead review
    of the program.
    D. Nef announced proposed amendment to (APM 220) Interim Policy,
    Procedures and Guidelines for the Periodic Review of Academic
    Programs to separate policy from procedure. He will copy the drafts to
    the committee members and requests our review.
    D. Dickerson will be absent next week.
  4. Old Business.
    None.
  5. New Business
    Reports on action plans:
    Chair R. Perry reviewed six and reported that they were generally
    responsive to the committee’s recommendations.
    D. Kemp reviewed business and reported that it was generally responsive
    to recommendations. S. Kotkin-Jaszi reviewed Health Science and
    reported that it was unresponsive to the committee’s recommendations.
    D. Nef announced that the department annual reports must address the
    action plan. He said this would ensure that departments are closing the
    loop and engaging in continuous improvement.
    Political Science review was deferred until next meeting.

MSC to adjourn at 9:55 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Undergraduate Academic Program
Review Subcommittee will be Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 9:00 a.m., in
McLane #193.
