The meeting was called to order by Chair Williams at 2:10 p.m. in Thomas
Administration, Room #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 9/16/2008.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda of 9/23/2008.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    B.F.A. in Graphic Design has been approved.
  4. New Program.
    Latin American Studies Major- 1st reading:
    1. Unit distributions.
    2. Clarify academic components for study abroad.
    3. Specify language proficiency requirements as an additional
      requirement.
    4. Expectations for entering program.
    5. More information concerning source of majors.
    6. Big picture- why not option within current major?
  5. Program Change Forms.
    Music Major
    Music as a Liberal Art-1st reading-Comments: clarification of max 6
    for non-repeatable 150A.
    Music Ed.-1st reading-Comments: clarify choral vocal/General
    Music/Instrumental requirements.
    Instrumental Performance-1st reading-Comments: Delete Music 43
    (change to 3)/Clarify and change to 9 units to 8 for SELECT FROM 140T,
    141, 142, 148, 150A, etc.
    Vocal Performance-1st reading-Comments: have front page correspond to
    back page. Clarify foreign language requirement.
  6. New Course Proposals.
    1. Music 40: MSC to approve.
    2. ENGR 135: 1st Reading-Comments: Learning outcomes. Syllabus
      from ID 120 to check duplication issues, request typewritten form.
