A meeting of the Academic Senate was called to order by Chair Botwin at 4:07 p.m. in the University Center, Room 200.

1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 11/16/09.

2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda.

3. Communications and Announcements.

   1. M. Botwin, Chair Academic Senate announced the passing of a motion by the Statewide Academic Senate to have a system-wide furlough day on March 2nd for a “Day without a CSU”. J. Amaral, Statewide Senator commented that, to her recollection, the motion had not officially passed.

   2. Ellen Junn, Associate Provost announced information regarding the Student Writing Initiative and the Faculty Technology Showcase on January 20, 2010.

   3. J. Amaral, Statewide Senator discussed an email sent by O. Benavides Statewide Senator regarding the Master Plan for Higher Education.

4. New Business.

   There was no new business.

5. Graduate Culture at Fresno State - Graduate Culture Task Force – Second Reading.

   MSC to postpone the second reading due to a lack of consultation from the Task Force.

6. Policy on Retention and Tenure (APM 325)-Personnel Committee - Second Reading.

   MSC to approve the Policy on Retention and Tenure (APM 325) with minor changes and forward to the President for approval.

MSC to adjourn at 4:55 p.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Academic Senate will be announced.

An Agenda will be distributed prior to the meeting.
