Members Present: Michael Botwin, Michael Caldwell, Jacinta Amaral, William Covino, Gena Gechter O. Harald Schweizer, Jessica Sweeten (student), President Welty.

Member Absent: Lynn Williams (excused).

Visitors: R. Dundas, S. Hayes, B. Tsukimura.

The meeting was called to order at 3:01 p.m. by Chair Botwin in the Thomas Administration Building, Room #117.

  1. Approval. MSC to approve the Minutes of 2/22/10.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda.

  3. Communications and Announcements. (Anyone wishing a copy of the items distributed or discussed, may contact the Academic Senate Office).

    Information Item.

    1. Statewide Senator J. Amaral announced the upcoming plenary of the Statewide Senate.

    Action Items

    1. A memorandum (2/19/10) from J. Constable, Chair, University Budget Committee, to Michael Botwin, Chair, Academic Senate re: Costs Associated with Performing Student Ratings of Instructor Performance, was received. Next Executive Committee Meeting.

  4. General Education Student Learning Outcomes - General Education.

    MSC to waive second reading.

    MSC to forward General Education Student Learning Outcomes to the Academic Senate for review.

  5. Revision to the Library Subcommittee Charge – Library Subcommittee.

    MSC to waive second reading.

    MSC to forward Revision to the Library Subcommittee Charge to the Academic Senate for review.

  6. Antelope Valley Engineering Programs (AVEP) at Lancaster University Center – Phase out of Graduate Program Offerings Graduate Committee.

    MSC to waive second reading

    MSC to forward Antelope Valley Engineering Programs (AVEP) at Lancaster University Center – Phase out of Graduate Program Offerings to the Academic Senate for review.

  7. Policy On Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322) - Continued.

    Following a thorough review of the document and implementation of suggestions, the committee:

    MSC to forward Policy On Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322) to the Academic Senate for review.

  8. Executive Session.

    There was no Executive Session.

MSC to adjourn at 5:28 p.m.

The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be Monday, March 8, 2010. An Agenda will be distributed prior to the meeting.
