The meeting was called to order by Chair A. Lawson at 11:00 p.m. in Library Rm. #4164.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 1/29/10.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the agenda as distributed.

  3. Communications and Announcements.

  4. ASI Resolution on GE -

    Passed by a majority, but some voted against for two reasons: they either liked unit reduction but not MI or wanted MI but not unit reduction

    For next meeting we will find out how many campuses have 48 unit GE package

  5. Area C2 Syllabi Review

    • Hum 15 – prereqs should be corrected
    • Hum 20 - prereqs should be corrected
    • Ital 1A - the cultural component should be more explicit and prominent– see actfl.org

    • Ital 1B – no explicit iterative requirement on paper

      • Pre req needs correction
      • No time
      • No schedule
      • No subject to change
      • No honor code

    • Anth 145 – writing req is ok

      • Prereq done, goals done, outcomes done, copywright, honor code ok
      • approved

    • Clas 114 – ask for clause that says feedback from 1st book report will be incorporated in 2nd book report

      • No units, no prereq

    • Ling 130 – writing now ok

      • approved

    • Engl 174 – grading scale now ok

      • approved

    • Engl 103 – no point on paper, no grading – only 100 words

      • MSC to place on agenda for exclusion from GE at next meeting

    • AgEcon 155 –

      • Conditional approval
      • Iterative component needs to be clarified (stating 1000 word portion to be iterative
    • Send courses to don

  6. Program Description Updates – the committee reviewed the current GE program description document and discussed approaches to revise it to reflect EO 1033
