The meeting was called to order by Chair A. Lawson at 11:00 p.m. in Thomas Administration #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 10/30/09.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.

  3. Communications and Announcements.

    Genera Education (GE) writing initiative through Center for Scholarly Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CSALT).

  4. Multicultural / International (MI) Courses - Members agreed to discuss the idea of meeting our program objectives within 48 units with faculty and administrators in their college.

  5. Area C2 Syllabi Review.

    ARM 1B - Elementary Armenian

    • Due dates for writing assignments are missing and no mention of the paper in points for the course.

    ARM 2A - Intermediate Armenian
    ARM 2B - Intermediate Armenian

    • These two courses are the same – same syllabus and same schedule of topics. There must be a differentiation to justify a different course number.
    • Due dates for writing assignments are missing and no mention of the paper in points for the course.

    CHIN 1A - Elementary Chinese

    • No units
    • No pre-requisites
    • Details of major assignments are unclear
    • No learning outcomes (only objectives)
    • Writing assignment has no iterative component

    CHIN 1B - Elementary Chinese

    • No major assignments
    • No learning outcomes (only objectives)
    • Unclear goal

    CDDS 90 - Deaf American Literature
