Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, D. Harris, J. Olson-Buchanan, P. Popma, J. Redd-Williams, H. Shen.

The meeting was called to order by Chair B. Tsukimura at 9:10 a.m. in TA #117.

  1. Minutes.

    MSC to approve the Minutes of 2/4/2010 as amended to Delete Item 3.B., and the first sentence in Item #4. should read: The Committee reviewed “Botwin’s Draft of (APM322) and rejected it.

  2. Agenda.

    MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to add a new Item #4. Policy on Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322) and to renumber the remaining items accordingly.

  3. Communications and Announcements.

    Second and Third Probationary letters will be sent out shortly.

  4. Policy on Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322).

    The Committee had an open and frank discussion regarding Policy on Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322).

  5. Sample Probationary Plan (APM 324A) – Postponed.

  6. Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence (APM 361) – Postponed.

  7. Interim Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background Checks (APM 315).

    The Committee discussed the Interim Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background Checks (APM 315). The discussion will continue at the next meeting.

MSC to adjourn at 10:30 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee is Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in Thomas Administration, Room #117. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e-mail alias “perscom”.
