Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), J. Olson-Buchanan, M. Darling D. Harris P. Popma, H. Shen, J. Redd-Williams.

Members Absent: None.

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:05 a.m. in TA #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 3/11/10.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to add a new item #4. Executive Session and renumber the remaining items accordingly.

  3. Communications and Announcements.

    1. There is a revision of the Policy on Office Hours that was sent recently to the Academic Policy and Planning Committee (AP&P) for review. The Personnel Committee would like to review this Policy.
    2. “Timetable for the Implementation of New Teaching Effectiveness Evaluations” passed at the Academic Senate meeting on March 15, 2010.
    3. A Motion was introduced on the Senate floor to eliminate the words “validity” and “reliability” from Policy on Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322).
    4. Current furloughed faculty cannot get raises, but FERPers will get a $1.5 million payout later this year.

  4. Subcommittee Vacancies.

    Executive Session.

    MSC to move into Executive Session. (10:20 a.m. – 10:25 a.m.)

    The following appointments were made.

  6. Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence (APM 361) – Postponed.

  7. Interim Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background Checks (APM 315) – Postponed.

MSC to adjourn at 10:35 a.m.
