Members Absent: None.

The meeting was called to order by Chair Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in TA #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 3/18/10.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to remove item #5. Policy on Faculty Leaves of Absence (APM 361) add a new item #4. Policy on Office and Consultation Hours (APM 338) and renumber the remaining items accordingly.

  3. Communications and Announcements.

    1. A memorandum (3/25/10) from Fred Schreiber, Chair Academic Policy & Planning Committee, to Brian Tsukimura, Chair Personnel Committee, re: Policy on Office and Consultation Hours (APM 338), was received. (see agenda item 4)
    2. The Motion on the Senate floor to eliminate the words “validity” and “reliability” from the Policy on Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness (APM 322) failed on Monday, April 12, 2010.

  4. Policy on Office and Consultation Hours (APM 338).

    The Committee reviewed and discussed the Policy on Office and Consultation Hours (APM 338). We suggested several revisions to the wording in the Policy.

    MSC to approve the Policy on Office and Consultation Hours (APM 338) with revisions and forward to the Executive Committee and the Academic Policy and Planning Committee for review.

  5. Sample Probationary Plan (APM 324A) – Postponed.

  6. Interim Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background Checks (APM 315) – Postponed.

MSC to adjourn at 10:55 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee is Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in Thomas Administration, Room #117. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e-mail alias “perscom”.
