Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), M. Darling, D. Harris, P. Popma, J. Redd-Williams, H. Shen.

Members Absent: J. Olson-Buchanan (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair B. Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in Thomas Administration #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 9/17/2009 as amended:

    1. Delete the last portion of the sentence in section #3a.
    2. Delete the resolution in section #4.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to show:

    1. Add item #5 “(APM 325) Policy on Retention and Tenure.
    2. Add item # 6 “(APM 324A) Sample Probationary Plan – (Policy on Probationary Plans and Faculty Mentoring).

  3. Communications and Announcements.

    Executive Session.

    Concerns were raised regarding shared security and computer systems.

  4. (APM 315) Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background Checks.

    Discussion led to Memo to Executive Committee.

    MSC to send resolution to the Executive Committee for review.

MSC to adjourn at 10:50 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday, October 22, 2009 @ 9:00 a.m. in Thomas Administration #117.
