Members Present: B. Tsukimura (Chair), D. Harris, J. Olson-Buchanan, P. Popma, H. Shen.

Members Absent: M. Darling (excused), J. Redd-Williams (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair B. Tsukimura at 9:15 a.m. in Thomas Administration #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 10/15/2009 as amended:

    The word “Lead” is misspelled in item #4.

  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as amended to show:

    Add item #5 “(APM 324) Policy on Probationary Plans and Faculty Mentoring”, and renumber subsequent items accordingly.

  3. Communications and Announcements.

    The committee requests M. Botwin, Chair of the Academic Senate, attend the next meeting to discuss (APM 322) Policy on the Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness.

    The Health & Human Services Articles of Governance passed the Executive Committee.

  4. (APM 325) Policy on Retention and Tenure.

    The policy was discussed and revised.

    MSC to approve with revisions and forward to the Executive Committee for review.

  5. (APM 324) Policy on Probationary Plans and Faculty Mentoring.

    The policy was discussed and revised.

    MSC to approve with revisions and forward to the Executive Committee for review.

  6. (APM 324A) Sample Probationary Plan.

    The plan was discussed.

MSC to adjourn at 10:50 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be Thursday, October 29, 2009 @ 9:00 a.m. in Thomas Administration #117.
