The meeting was called to order at 3:02 p.m. by Chair Caldwell in the Library Conference Room 2108.

A. Memorandum (May 3, 2011) from Marilyn Wilson, Chair of the University Graduate Committee to Michael Caldwell, Chair of the Academic Senate re: Proposal Review for Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Department of Nursing.
Memo has been received.
Today’s Executive Committee agenda. - Executive Session. MSC to move into Executive Session. (3:04 p.m. – 3:12 p.m.)
5. Returned to Open Session. (3:12 p.m.)
MSC to approve the following recommendation:
Faculty Representation on the President’s Commission on Human Relations and Equity
(PCHRE).
Teresa Huerta, Ph.D. (Literacy and Early Education), two-year term
Asao Inoue, Ph.D. (English), three-year term
Vongsavanh Mouanoutoua, Ph.D. (Linguistics), two-year term
Jenelle Pitt, Ph.D. (Counseling, Special Education and Rehabilitation) three-year
term
6. COIA and Knight Commission Report – John S. Nicols, Professor Emeritus of Communications
and International Affairs College of Communications, Penn State University. (Time
Certain 3:15).
Mr. Thomas Boeh, Director of Athletics, and Ms. Betsy Mosher, Assistant Director of
Athletics, gave a presentation regarding the COIA and Knight Commission Report and
its application to the Department of Athletics.
MSC to endorse the Department of Athletics’ recommendations to the COIA and Knight
Commission Report. A letter reflecting endorsement of the Department of Athletics
from the Executive Committee will be sent to COIA. The COIA and Knight Commission
Report – John S. Nicols, Professor Emeritus of Communications and International Affairs
College of Communications, Penn State University will be placed on the fall 2011 agenda
of the Academic Senate.
7. Co-Curricular Leadership Certification Consultation –Student Affairs – Second Reading.
Ms. Sally Ramage and Ms. Breanne Scogin shared information regarding the requirements
for the leadership certificate, statistics regarding student enrollment and responded
to questions from the Executive Committee.
MSC to send the Co-Curricular Leadership Certification Consultation – Student Affairs
– Second Reading to the fall 2011 agenda of the Academic Senate for approval.
8. Proposal for Modification of Degree Program: Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
– Second Reading.
The item will return to the agenda of the next Executive Committee meeting.
