Members Present: A. Lawson (Chair), S. Lewis, D. Nef, Sandra Lee, M. Calvarese, J. Tatsumura, D. Christensen, B. Berrett.

Members Absent: Roksana Badruddoja (excused), S. Adisasmito-Smith.

The meeting was called to order by Chair A. Lawson at 11:10 p.m. in Library Rm. #4164.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 5/07/10.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements
    • GE assessment memo sent to Chairs
  4. GE for a Global Century.
    • D Nef communicated to the committee that there are a number of faculty who are interested in submitting a proposal for General Education for a Global Century. The goal of this project is to reform general education and incorporate global awareness as well as high impact educational practices into general education programs.
  5. Construction Management proposal for waiver.
    • MSC to grant waiver for additional area C1/C2, E1and ID of GE, provided they submit documentation detailing how they will meet the learning outcomes for each of the three areas and how those outcomes will be assessed. The program will be expected to participate in the annual GE assessment efforts of these areas.
  6. Revision to GE program Description – Upper Division

MSC to adjourn at 1:00 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting of the General Education Committee will be April 23, 2010.
