The meeting was called to order by Chair A. Lawson at 11:05 p.m. in Academic Affairs Conference Room, Library 4164.
1. Minutes. MSC to approve of minutes of 11/19/10.
2. Agenda. MSC to approve the agenda as distributed.
3. Communications and announcements
a. Request for members to serve on task force to implement Q-dogs recommendations
4. Revisions to course proposals:
a. ARAB 1A – send back to dept to implement requested changes
b. ARAB 1B - send back to dept to implement requested changes
5. Review of GE Outcomes Assessment plans from departments
a. PHIL 20 - approved
b. MUS 171 – not sure which outcome they are assessing and no criteria for meeting
the outcome
c. Chem 1A - approved
d. EES 167 – missing the assignment to be evaluated
e. Comm 3 – the assignment is missing (provide) and the rubric only captures the documentation
of sources, not the research aspect
f. Biol 10 – simplify to show activity and rubric
g. Drama 62 – no assignment
h. DS 71 – does not have current GE outcome – not standardized across sections
i. ECON 181 - approved
j. PH 90 - approved
k. FIN 30 – criteria for meeting outcome is not there
l. Soc 3 - approved
m. GEOG 167 - approved
n. PLSI 1 – no assignment or standard method of assessment
o. RA 80 - provide the actual assignment
p. Gerentology 100 – the assignment does not meet the “discuss” outcome
q. IT 20 – need to pick one outcome and rubric is not specific
r. Plant 105 - approved
s. SWRK 136 - approved
t. WS 10 – approved
u. AS27 – no assignment or standard method of assessment
v. Crim 101 – no assignment and rubric does not align with outcome
MSC to adjourn at 1:00 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting of the General Education Committee will be announced early in the next semester.
