The meeting was called to order by Chair Popma at 9:05 a.m. in Thomas #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 11/18/10.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. A special election was held to fill the 3 vacant seats on UBORT. UBORT now has a full complement of members.
    2. IDEA was chosen as the vendor to administer student ratings, with Fall Semester 2011 as the first semester that the IDEA forms will be used. T. Wendt and M. Caldwell will attend a “train the trainers” workshop sponsored by IDEA. The Personnel Committee was asked to develop a template to help departments with establishing their policies and procedures for implementing IDEA within the context of APM 322 (Policy on Teaching Effectiveness).
    3. The Professional Development Subcommittee met in early Dec. 2010 and is working on APM 357 (Policy on CETL).
    4. APM 315 (Fingerprinting and Background Checks) has been discussed at two meetings of the Senate Executive Committee.
  4. Finalize Changes to the Policy on Retention and Tenure (APM 325) Discussed final wording changes to several sections of APM 325. T. Wendt will locate master copy of the document and incorporate changes.
  5. Review Policy on Promotion (APM 327) – Discussion postponed.
  6. MSC to adjourn at 10:50 am.
