Members Present:   P. Popma (Chair), N.P. Mahalik, J. Redd-Williams.

Members Absent:    J. Olson-Buchanan (excused).

The meeting was called to order by Chair Popma at 9:05 a.m. in TA #117.

  1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 9/23/10.
  2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
  3. Communications and Announcements.
    1. APM 322 (Teaching Effectiveness) as amended was passed by the Academic Senate at its Sept. 27, 2010 meeting.
    2. An orientation for new departmental chairs was held this past week.
    3. J. Redd-Williams will invite the Interim AVP for Personnel Services, Ted Wendt, to meet with the Personnel Committee.
  4. Ad Hoc Committee Report Regarding Investigation of Student Rating of Faculty Instruments.
    Reviewed the memo to be sent to the Senate Executive Committee from the Personnel Committee. Approved the wording of the memo.
  5. Interim Policy and Procedures for Fingerprinting and Conducting Background Check (APM315)
    Discussion postponed.
  6. RTP Process.
    A draft will be prepared of proposed changes to APM 325 for Committee review. Committee also needs to review APM 327 and 324.

MSC to adjourn at 10:00 a.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the Personnel Committee will be on Thursday, October 7, 2010, in Thomas #117. The entire committee membership may be reached at the e-mail alias “perscom”.
