The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Chair Putirka in Library Room #4164.
1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of 9/7/2010.
2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
3. Communications and Announcements.
There were none.
4. Improving Student Writing Initiative.
Continued discussion of ISWI and related result.
The next scheduled meeting of the Writing Competency Subcommittee will be Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., Library, Room #4164.
Agenda.
1. Approval of the Minutes of 9/23/2010.
2. Approval of the Agenda.
3. A new W course proposal (Dennis’ office will distribute the file)
4. Ellen’s suggestion: should we hire a Writing Across the Curriculum specialist (or
can we do the work ourselves, i.e., request the research, make the recommendations,
etc.). If we need to fill such a position, what might their duties be.
5. We will go point-by-point through the GE requirements for writing, and consider
recommendations.
