Fresno State WSCUC Reaccreditation 2025
Fresn State's regional accrediting agency is the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) Senior College and University Commission, or WSCUC. In 2025, the university was selected to participate in the Thematic Pathway for Reaccreditation process, an option only available to high-performing institutions that did well in their previous reaccreditation. This was a streamlined process under which we focused on a theme—Flagship of the Central Valley. Through a months-long process, we investigated the role of Fresno State as an institution that both uplifts the lives of residents and reshapes every facet of our region through transformative education, research, service, and leadership.
Process and Outcome
Fresno State submitted our self-study to WSCUC on July 30, 2025, and their representatives visited our campus on October 8-10, 2025. On February 13, 2026, the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) reaffirmed Fresno State’s accreditation for a full ten years—the longest reaffirmation period possible and one reserved for institutions that demonstrate the highest levels of quality, effectiveness, and integrity.
Accreditation is very important–it certifies the validity of our degrees and it is required for our students to be eligible for federal financial aid. However, accreditation is not simply a review of compliance; it is a reflection of our shared mission and collective effort.
