Training Opportunities
Below are AI-related training opportunities offered by Fresno State and the CSU Office of the Chancellor. Please register for any programs that are of interest to you. If you have questions about any of the programs, please contact ideas@mail.fresnostate.edu.
Introduction to AI Tools for Teaching and Learning
Online cohort course | 3 weeks/20-25 hours
DATES: September 16 - October 6 | October 14 - November 3 (registration is closed)
This three-week online course is an introduction to Artificial Intelligence tools where guided experimentation empowers participants to understand some of the basics of AI functionality, including its workings and methods for detecting its usage. Learn basic AI terminology, engage in hands-on exploration of AI Tools, learn strategies for detecting AI-generated content, and techniques to address potential misuse of AI tools by students. Participants will apply the knowledge gained to develop a personalized AI use policy for their course, and find resources to maintain currency in this dynamic field. This course is offered by the Office of IDEAS and will be open to Fresno State faculty and staff and offered on the Fresno State instance of Canvas.
Introduction to AI for Higher Education Professionals
DATES: October 14 - November 3 (registration is closed)
Online cohort course | 3 weeks/15-20 hours
This 3-week training is designed to explore the practical uses of generative AI in the every day work and research of higher education professionals. Participants will consider ethical dimensions of AI use and learn foundational AI concepts, how to select and utilize AI tools effectively, and best practices for integrating AI into their regular workflows. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, attendees will develop the skills to streamline tasks, enhance productivity, and innovate within their professional roles. This course is offered by the Office of IDEAS and will be open to Fresno State faculty and staff and offered on the Fresno State instance of Canvas.

Academic Applications of AI Microcredential
Self-paced asynchronous course | 2-10 hours
The Academic Applications of AI (AAAI) Micro-Credential, is a comprehensive program
designed by SDSU to enhance your understanding of generative AI is now available.
Whether you are a researcher, support staff, or simply curious about AI, this course
offers valuable insights.
Developed by ITSS @ SDSU and open to all CSU employees and participation occurs on
the Chancellor's Office instance of Canvas.

The CSU is offering a series of webinars on Teaching and Thinking with AI, led by José Antonio Bowen, on selected Tuesdays this fall (dates below).
Once registered, you can attend sessions live or view recordings from the Zoom Events
portal. Recordings will be available in the portal shortly after each session.
