AI Task Force

Surveys

Surveys were distributed to all campus constituents in March 2024 to gain insight into attitudes, awareness, usage, and interest in AI across the university. Over 1800 students and nearly 800 employees responded.

Survey results were shared with the President's Cabinet and the Task Force subcommittees to inform their work and recommendations.

Key Findings for Employees

    • About half of participants stay informed about and discuss AI
    • Almost half of participants have seen AI opportunities on campus
    • Approximately 66% do not use AI in their work
    • Most agree that AI will bring significant benefits to work
    • Approximately 75% have not attended an AI training or seminar
    • Most agree that AI will impact innovation and job security
    • 71% indicated they want formal campus AI training
    • Most used AI platforms or tools: Chat GPT, Grammarly, Google Gemini, Elicit

Key Findings for Students

    • Almost 70% do not stay informed about AI
    • Approximately 88% not taken AI courses, seminars, or workshops
    • A little more than half (55%) do not use AI in their schoolwork
    • About 77% agree that AI will impact innovation and job security
    • Nearly 70% are not actively seeking opportunities to learn about AI
    • 61% believe there is a need to improve their AI skills
    • Most used AI platforms or tools: ChatGPT, Grammarly, Microsoft Copilot, Snapchat AI
