Dear Campus Community,

As an integral part of the University’s Research and Sponsored Programs operation, we wanted you to be the first to know about our upcoming transition to a new electronic routing system to meet our internal review and reporting needs.

We anticipate our campus Project Information Form (PIF) review/approval process will continue operating in BizFlow until mid-May, when a temporary solution will be implemented before our new system launches in the fall. Our goal is to make this a seamless transition for everyone involved with grants and contracts, and we’ll be providing more details in the weeks to come with regular updates as the process moves forward.

Special thanks to everyone who participated in the recent evaluation of several vendors who are bidding to implement and administer our new system. We greatly appreciate your comments about these web-based programs and hope to announce our selection soon.  Each of the vendors offered impressive solutions for our grants and contracts review process, and we’re confident the new system will offer greater ease of use for both project directors and administrative staff.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Doug Carey at 278-0964 or dcarey@csufresno.edu. We’ll also have an FAQ tab as well as archived emails at our transition website at /grants/transition.html

Thank you for your support as we begin this transition to a new and improved electronic routing system for grants and contracts. As with any change, there will surely be the occasional speed bump, but we’re optimistic that our new system will allow for improved reporting capabilities and greater efficiency for all.

Dear Campus Community,

As noted in our previous email last month, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is moving to a new electronic routing system to meet our internal review and reporting needs.

We are pleased to announce that Kuali Research has been selected as our electronic routing system following an extensive evaluation process. Kuali boasts an impressive record of accomplishment with more than 40 institutions on its client list, including MIT, University of Maryland College Park, Utah State University and Colorado State University. We are currently working with Kuali staff on plans to implement our new system this fall.

Our campus Project Information Form (PIF) review/approval process will continue operating in BizFlow until May 19, when we will temporarily move to a paper solution until Kuali’s launch date. Beginning May 20, research administrators from our office will generate PIFs and circulate them to PIs/Chairs/Deans for wet signature(s). PIFs will be delivered for signature from our office either by hand or intercampus mail during this period.

Special thanks in advance to everyone for your patience during this transition period. We’re confident that our new system under Kuali will allow for improved reporting capabilities and greater efficiency for all.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Doug Carey at 278-0964 or dcarey@csufresno.edu. We also have an FAQ tab as well as archived emails at our transition website at /grants/transition.html

Welcome back, Colleagues!

We hope you had an enjoyable summer.  We here in Research and Sponsored Programs have been busy implementing a new electronic PIF approval system, “GrantLaunch.”  We would like to invite you to the first wave of training, designed specifically for Deans, Administrators, Associate Deans and College Budget Managers.  The new application – a Kuali product – is much more robust than its predecessor (Biz Flow) and we think you will find it much easier to use in reviewing and approving proposals prior to submission to sponsors.

There will be 2 brief, identical sessions, August 14 and August 15, on how to login, navigate, review and approve Project Information Forms (PIFs) in a manner similar to Biz Flow.

Monday, Aug. 14, 2017                       11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.           HML 2134

Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017                      10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.           HML 2134

Please RSVP using this link: (https://goo.gl/forms/lMXL0tUBUz1EnEBP2)

We look forward to introducing you to this new electronic routing system!

Sincerely,

Dear Campus Community,

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is pleased to introduce Kuali Research as our new electronic routing system for internal review and reporting purposes. Our new system – to be called “GrantLaunch” -- is being implemented over the next two months.

Our campus Project Information Form (PIF) review/approval process is continuing with hard copies (paper) for now but will be gradually phased-out starting on Sept. 1, 2017. We will begin the transition by having deans and administrators approve PIFs in GrantLaunch on Sept. 1. Project directors and department chairs will begin approving PIFs in GrantLaunch starting on Oct. 1.

To prepare for the new system, we will be holding a number of GrantLaunch training sessions for faculty in September:
