Student Ratings of Instruction are formal evaluations completed by students to assess the effectiveness of a course and its instructor. These evaluations take place during the last few weeks of a course and serve several key purposes:

• Provides Feedback for Instructors
• Measures Teaching Effectiveness
• Identifies Areas for Course Improvement 

 

Spring 2026 Survey Dates

• Instructor question selection/opt-out: March 9, 2026 - April 17, 2026
• Surveys open to students: April 27, 2026 - May 15, 2026
• Reports available to instructors: June 8, 2026

Summer 2026 Survey Dates

While summer includes multiple sessions (e.g., 3-week, 4-week, 9-week, 12-week, and 14-week formats), the survey timeline is centrally scheduled. The survey administration window remains consistent across summer sessions to ensure a standardized evaluation process, even though instructional sessions vary in length and start/end dates.

• Instructor question selection/opt-out: June 8, 2026 - July 17, 2026
• Surveys open to students: July 27, 2026 - August 14, 2026
• Reports available to instructors: August 31, 2026

Fall 2026 Survey Dates

• Instructor question selection/opt-out: October 12, 2026 - November 20, 2026
• Surveys open to students: November 30, 2026 - December 18, 2026
• Reports available to instructors: January 11, 2027

The Student Ratings Committee is a subcommittee of the Academic Senate's Personnel Committee. It's charge to oversee the administration of all student ratings of instruction for faculty at California State University, Fresno.  This includes periodically reviewing the bank of questions that faculty can use, monitoring the implementation process, and interfacing with both the student ratings vendor and the university administration on how student ratings are used and setting limits on how they can be used.
