Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)/ Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (aka Drones)

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or “drones” are being utilized within educational institutions for research and teaching activities now more than ever. Fresno State recognizes the rapid increase in the use of UAS, and is fully committed to promoting a safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff members.

Fresno State’s UAS committee provides the necessary guidance and oversight on the appropriate use of drones for a variety of applications. Committee members carefully review proposed uses of UAS to ensure compliance with federal and state law, as well as the legal and safe operation of drones. UAS committee approval must be obtained before any activities involving drones may begin. Requests for authorization to operate an Unmanned Aerial System (e.g. drone) for university business can be submitted using this link.
