Members Present: J. Kus (Chair), N. Bengiamin, W. Fasse, A. Parham, T. Wielicki, L. Stillmaker (student).

Members Absent: J. Constable (excused), J. Parks (excused), P. Trueblood (excused).

Visitors: J. Waayers.

The meeting was called to order by Chair Kus at 3:20.m. in the University Center # 203.

1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of April 30, 2008.
2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda as distributed.
3. Communications and Announcements.
   1. Chair Kus noted that he had forwarded a memo to M. Botwin,
      Chair – Academic Senate, reporting the committee’s activities for
      AY 07-08.
   2. A memo from M. Caldwell, Vice Chair – Academic Senate to J. Kus,
      dated 5/7/08, regarding Proposed Department Status Change for
      Recreation Administration and Leisure Studies, was received.
      Agenda item for early in the Fall Semester.
   3. A memo from Provost Echeverria to J. Kus, dated 5/6/08,
      regarding the naming of deans for the Task Force on Differential
      Cost of Instruction, was received.
   4. Chair Kus distributed copies of a handout prepared by P. Smits,
      titled “Comprehensive Campaign Progress, Inception to Date.” This
      material had been discussed at last week’s Academic Senate
      Advancement Committee meeting.
4. New Business.
   There was none.
5. Election of a University Budget Committee (UBC) Chair for AY 08-09.
   MSC to re-elect J. Kus chair of the University Budget
   Committee for AY 08-09.
6. Selection of UBC members to serve on Task Force on Differential Cost of
   Instruction.
   MSC to appoint J. Constable, N. Bengiamin, and T. Wielicki to
   represent the committee on this Task Force, with A. Parham
   as an alternate.
   Chair Kus will send a memo to Provost Echeverria noting these names.
7. Possible Revisions to the New Budget Model.
   Postponed to next meeting.

MSC to adjourn at 3:40 p.m.

The next scheduled meeting of the University Budget Committee will be in the Fall 2008 semester. An agenda will be distributed prior to the meeting.
