We welcome all graduate students to join us for a casual mixer to kick off the new academic year. In addition to music, food, and raffle prizes, campus resources will be highlighted. Stay tuned for our next mixer scheduled for September 2025!

We are excited to host the first THES-earch Thursday of 2025 coming up on Thursday, February 27 (3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.). Our February event will feature two graduate students who will be presenting their current research: James T. Morrison (English-MFA) and Andy Villarreal (Psychology). Along with the presentations, there will be time for questions, and we will also provide snacks.
We would love to have you join us in Library 2119!

James T. Morrison is currently an MFA candidate in nonfiction at Fresno State, where he serves as both managing and nonfiction editor for The Normal School literary magazine. His writing has been published in Slate and Fugue, and he has appeared on the podcast Death, Sex, & Money.

Andy Villarreal is a Master's candidate in the General/Experimental Psychology Program at Fresno State. His research focuses on the unique experiences of Latinx college students and the impact of understudied forms of discrimination on the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to his research, Andy serves as a statistics consultant, graduate research assistant, and teaching associate for research methods in psychology.

Every year, one exemplary graduate is chosen as a representative of their program. This may not be the student with the highest GPA or long list of publications.  This is a student who might instead lead in other ways, through their character, integrity, and ability to inspire others, for example.
