The Graduate Net Initiative, in collaboration with the Division of Research and Graduate Studies, is making available a number of webinars focused specifically on outreach best practices.

CGS Report: Innovation in Graduate Admissions through Holistic Review

The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) webinar on holistic graduate admissions is based on their recently-released report outlining the findings of a
year-long research project on the subject. With the support of Hobsons, CGS surveyed graduate deans and university
admissions professionals to better understand the current state of graduate admissions at U.S. institutions.

This webinar will provide you with an overview of the report’s highlights, which include:

  • Promising practices and recommendations for graduate institutions seeking to learn more about or to implement holistic admissions processes.

  • An overview of existing resources for institutions.

  • Examples of work that CGS member institutions are doing to implement holistic admissions processes and increase diversity on their campuses.

In 2015 the Graduate Net Initiative deployed a graduate student survey in order to gauge the needs of our graduate student population at Fresno State. Through this survey we found that 46% of graduate students found out about their graduate program through the website. This finding points to the importance of having updated and user friendly websites.
